about

Cotton, also known as the White Gold, is planted on huge fields at the Aral Sea (Asia). The water that is required for, is taken from the rivers feeding the Aral Sea. So the lake dries out. How fast you can see here:

lyrics

Once there was a time….
We played unrestrained at the sea
Memories...

One day strangers came in my land
They brought big machines and plant cotton
Not for us, no, no, for the world, for you all.

One day strangers came in my land.
We had work, yeah, our daily bread.
And others made the money.

(Evrybody knows that money isn’t eatable)

One day strangers came in my land
They brought big machines and plant cotton.
At first we didn’t know what it’s meant to us
But soon we’ve guessed:
They needed the water from our rivers and they got less.
No pisces, no fishin’, no splashin’, no playin’ in the water (nothing)
What remains is desert, desert, desert.

Once there was a time...
We played unrestrained at the sea
Memories...
